Summary. The information according the comparative effect of eye drops of indomethacine and dexamethasone in diabetic patients are limited.

Purpose. To compare the clinical efficacy of eye drops of indomethacin and corticosteroid after phacoemulsification with IOL implantation in diabetes type I.

Material and methods. The study involved 28 women (28 eyes) aged 35–65 years with diabetes mellitus type I which during 30 days after cataract surgery used eye drops indocollyre 0.1 % (14 patients) and often dexamethasone 0.1 % (14 patients). Evaluation of the subjective and objective signs of intraocular inflammation and complications, intraocular pressure, intraocular bleeding and blood sugar.

Results. The data demonstrated the sufficient efficacy of eye drops of indocollyre 0.1 % with minimal negative influence on the blood sugar level during all period of follow up. That allows us to recommend them after cataract surgery diabetic patients like more preferable drug.

Keywords: indocollyre 0.1 %, dexamethasone, diabetes, cataract, phacoemulsification, glycemia.
