Summary. The results of the delayed technique of microsurgical treatment of severe wounds of the eye with step-by-step execution of all stages are presented and a step-by-step algorithm of this approach with a pathogenetic justification based on long-term observation of severe injuries of 21 eyes with a foreign body in 21 patients is presented. Advantages of delayed vitrectomy in comparison with the approach of Ferenc Kuhn is the availability of the optimal team of surgeons, the presence of PVD, proper reduction of PVR and air or gas tamponade.
