SUMMARY
Introduction. Modern methods of treatment of macular edema due to retinal vein occlusion have changed in recent years.
Purpose. To study the morphofunctional characteristics of eye in patients with macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO) and/or vein branch (BRVO) after single intravitreal dexamethasone implant injection.
Material and methods. Eleven patients (15 eyes) were included for the analysis. The mean age was 64.9 ± 2.48 years (64.00 (56.00; 71.00)). An intravitreal implant Ozurdex (Dexamethasone, 0.7 mg, Allergan Pharmaceuticals, Ireland) was carried out by standard methods with previous hospitalization in operating room. The mean term before implantation was 1.00 (0.20; 5.50) month; mean follow-up – 4.3 (3.70; 8.90) month.
Results. The efficiency of treatment was evaluated with the functional and morphological outcomes by means of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and by retinal thickness in optical coherence tomography, respectively. There was a statistically significant improvement in BCVA at the end of the observation period (p < 0.01).
Conclusion. The dexamethasone implant is an effective method of treatment of macular edema due to RVO/BRVO and can be applied in complex therapy of this disease.

Summary. The paper presents an analysis of modern views on the problem of glaucoma in pregnant and lactating women. Pregnancy and lactation is a complicated complex of the physiological state in a woman’s life that influent on the nature of the biological reactions occurring in all organs and systems. The authors show the need to consider that the number of pharmacological drugs have teratogenic effects and the fact of their impact on the body of a newborn if it enters into it with his mother’s milk. It is represented an extremely difficult drug treatment of glaucoma for a long enough period of time in the work are the key provisions and the most appropriate and safe approaches to the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of glaucoma, including surgical and laser techniques during pregnancy and lactation.
Thus, to minimize the negative influence of medical events it is reasonable to:
– use the glaucoma medications only in cases with high intraocular pressure and objective evidence of disease progression ordering the minimal frequency of the schedule;
– recommend the glaucoma surgery (preferably laser treatment) and preferably to carry out with consider in the term of pregnancy;
– minimize the systemic effects of glaucoma drops using the nazolacrimal compression or the temporary occlusion of the lacrimal points.

Summary. The paper deals with the problem of increasing the efficiency of vision loss prevention in patients with angle-closure glaucoma. The data of peculiarities of the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of severe pathology of the eye – an acute attack of angle-closure glaucoma are presented. According to the analysis of clinical experience and some of the literature substantiated the existence of risk groups of this disease developing, presents some effective methods of detecting them, particularly among patients with hyperopic refraction. It was presented an effective scheme of the hallmarks of an acute attack of glaucoma, simplifying the differential diagnosis to avoid the medical errors. A systematic list with well known recommendations of treatment measures was presented. The material should help ophthalmologists-beginners and family practice physicians in the proper diagnosis and to make the correct recommendation to prevent the recurrent attacks of high intraocular pressure, considering that the timing of medical events is very important for the future prospects of visual function.
